Every day more people take responsibility for their own health and take the reins towards a lifestyle that makes them feel better. There is great interest in eating, sleeping or training better and there are many popularizers and professionals who help us achieve better lifestyle habits. However, when it comes to work, be it at home or at the office, all those lessons seem to vanish and for at least 8 hours a day, we forget about our health.
But it's not about working more, it's about working better.
We are satisfied with any material that is provided to us in the office and we use any furniture that we have at home for the days of teleworking. Each person is different: taller, shorter, bigger, smaller… But all the tables are the same. Regardless of the person or the work that is going to be done in it. This makes no sense.
We prioritize rushing, stress, deadlines and work frenzy over our own well-being, thinking, without reason, that this way we are more productive and that this is the most important thing. Adding movement to the working day has a brutal impact on health and enjoying it is essential for a job well done, no matter how many hours you dedicate to it. A sedentary lifestyle at work is related to musculoskeletal disorders, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, stress and other mental health problems, and even some types of cancer.
Movement makes us better.
It is useless to train after (or before) work if we then spend 8 hours glued to the chair. Our body wants movement, but it is not the only one, our mind is also enriched by moving.
The movement promotes divergent thinking, the part of creative thinking responsible for generating ideas. In addition, the activity directly impacts our productivity. Keeping moving, changing posture, getting up, walking, stretching or doing small exercises during the day makes us better able to concentrate on what we are doing.
It's time to become aware of those hours we spend working and give them the importance they deserve.
